  • 8 December 2008 to 30 June 2009 - Getting Sorted - Dinosaurs, dung beetles, artifacts, hands-on science, fossils, aeroplanes, toys, weapons, medals, fire engines and more - see many items that would rarely be on display at the Queensland Museum, Southbank.
     
  • 8 December 2008 to 30 June 2009 - Radio Days - Over 150 radios feature in this display showcasing a selection from the 1920s to the 1960s. Queensland Museum, Southbank.
     
  • 17 December 2008 to 30 June 2009 - Skeleton Display - Richmond Pliosaur - This animal was found in North-Western Queensland and was from the Early Cretaceous period. Level 2, Queensland Museum, South Bank.
     
  • 17 December 2008 to 30 June 2009 - Final Cut Photographic Exhibition - More than forty up-close images of mammals, insects, birds and corals taken by Queensland Museum's nature photographers, Gary Cranitch and Jeff Wright. Held at the Queensland Museum, Southbank.
     
  • 30 & 31 June 2009 - Queensland Quilters Biennial Challenge Exhibition - Challenge quilts made by members of Queensland Quilters. The theme is "25" to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Free entry. 10.00am to 4.00pm at Circle Gallery, 274 Montague St, West End.
     
  • 24 & 25 July 2009 - Live Life Villages Art Prize - The annual art prize for painting and sculpture is open to all. There is also a junior competition for 13 to 18 year olds. Funds raised will go to the Alzheimer's Association Queensland and Sunnybank/Salisbury Meals on Wheels Inc. Entry is $5. 10.00am to 3.00pm at Brookland Village Community Centre.
     
  • 4 to 26 July 2009 - Changing Places - Paintings of Brisbane's inner city suburbs by Brisbane artist, Jan Jorgensen. Showing at the Kiln Gallery, The Substation, 150 Enoggera Tce, Paddington.
     
  • 19 June to 16 August 2009 - Games, Fun and Adventure - Visitors are invited to play traditional games such as Chinese checkers, marbles, knuckles, draughts, hopscotch and croquet in the exhibition that explores the history of play, including games, outdoor pursuits, nursery rhymes and toys. Pine Rivers Heritage Museum, Old Petrie Town, Dayboro Rd, Kurwongbah.
     
  • 21 to 30 August 2009 - Save the Children - Make a Thing of the Past - A free exhibition of modern day items from around the world representing practices and issues the organisation would like to 'Make a Thing of the Past.' Westfield Carindale. 
     
  • 6 June to 6 September 2009 - Da Vinci Machines Exhibition - Over 60 inventions based on original drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci in an interactive exhibition. Entry is $20 for adults, $15 for concession and $10 for juniors. 10.00am to 6.00pm daily at The Pages Pavilion, Cultural Forecourt, South Bank.
     
  • 30 May to 20 September 2009 - American Impressionism and Realism: A Landmark Exhibition from the Met - Featuring more than 70 impressionist and realist paintings from The Metropolitan’s collection of American paintings and sculpture. The exhibit also includes a collection of how Australian artists responded to key artistic developments of the time. More than 30 Australian paintings will be hung alongside the American artworks. Open Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 5.00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9.00am to 5.00pm at the Queensland Art Gallery, Stanley Place, Southbank.
     
  • 27 June to 4 October 2009 - 150 Years: Photography in Queensland from the Collection - Photographs from the gallery holdings dating back to the creation of the state of Queensland in 1859. Free entry. Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 5.00pm and Saturday and Sunday, 9.00am to 5.00pm at the Queensland Artist's Gallery, Melbourne St, Southbank.
     
  • 4 April to 11 October 2009 - Bold but Faithful: John Oxley Library at Work - A collection of rare objects and documents that have been collected since the opening of the John Oxley Library in 1934. Free entry. Talbot Family Treasures Wall, State Library of Queensland, Cultural Centre, Stanley Pl, South Bank.
     
  • 22 August to 1 November 2009 - Easton Pearson - An exhibit featuring the Brisbane-based fashion house which is celebrating its twentieth anniversary. Open Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 5.00pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9.00am to 5.00pm at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) Queensland, Stanley Place, Southbank.
     
  • 26 January to 31 December 2009 - Queensland Stories -  People Places Past Present - A reflection on some of the people, events and attitudes that have shaped Queensland since separation 150 years ago. Queensland Museum, Southbank.
     
  • 12 February to 31 December 2009 - Charles Darwin - The Reluctant Revolutionary - Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin at the Queensland Museum, Southbank.
