• 1 to 11 October 2008 - The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Musical - 6 quirky champion spellers (and a few unexpected local competitors) spell their way through the Putnam County spelling finals. • 10 October (Friday) 2008 - University of Queensland Medical Society, ES Meyers Memorial Lecture - Guest speaker Professor Graeme Clark is the pioneer of the multiple-channel cochlear implant (bionic ear), a device that has allowed over 100,000 otherwise deaf children and adults to hear and talk. • 11 October (Saturday) 2008 - Conrad Treasury Boardroom Blitz- a musical celebration of the sixties at Brisbane's Entertainment Centre at Boondall, allowing you to live out those childhood dreams of stardom. • 1 September to 16 October 2008 - Tiwest Night Stalk - a national citizen-based spotlight survey to determine numbers and distribution of Australian native species and feral pests. • 18 October (Saturday) 2008 - IGA Amazing Chase 2008 Leukaemia Foundation fundraiser - pair up and race to complete challenges at the Metroplex on Gateway (near Murarrie). Each entrant will be sent a fundraising pack. Entrants are asked to raise $400 sponsorship for the event, including the $200 entry fee. • 25 October (Thursday) 2008 - MS Moon Walk The annual MS Moon Walk is designed to encourage people of all ages and fitness levels to gather under an October full moon and enjoy a fun, and most importantly, safe 10km stroll around the Brisbane River, while helping to raise money for people living with MS.
   
• 25 October 2008 - Living Faith Primary School Fair - School fair with stalls, games, rides, food, a white goods clearance sale (new items), and a sports and entertainment memorabilia auction with items from big name celebrities. 10am - 3pm, 60 Brays Rd, Murrumba Downs.
