A free six week program run by the University of Queensland for
older drivers or people who have recently stopped driving. The group

- Celebrates the
150th year of the foundation of the state of Queensland.

Cancer Council Call to Arms
- An annual, national event to raise funds and awareness of cancer,
a disease that effects 1 in 2 men by age 85. To participate,
nominate any day in July to host a Call to Arms match where the
players in your sporting club wear a yellow armband in a show of
support to men who have survived cancer, those currently facing the
cancer fight and to remember mates who have lost their lives to
cancer. All funds raised go to the Cancer Council. Any sporting club
can join, so register by 26 June, contact 1300 65 65 85.
- 3 July (Friday) 2009 - NAIDOC Week Flag Raising Ceremony
- Presented by the Moreton Bay Regional Council and themed 'Honouring our Elders, Nurturing our Youth'. The program will
include a three-flag raising ceremony, morning tea, meet and
greet with local Gubbi Gubbi elders, and live entertainment.
10.00am to 12.00pm at the Town Square, Caboolture. For

70s and 80s Glam Rock Night at
the Story Bridge Hotel (pdf)
- A fundraiser for Zonta Brisbane Metro Breakfast Club to
support homeless women in Brisbane. There will be prizes for the
best dressed, raffles, a silent auction and live entertainment.
Tickets include a light meal and a glass of wine on arrival. The

stories written by Steele Rudd about life in the 1880s. The season opens on the

- 11 July (Saturday) 2009 -
Head of the Brisbane Regatta -
A 7km race on the Brisbane River, from Tennyson to St Lucia hosted
by the Toowong Rowing Club and International Riverfoundation. The
event is open to all muscle powered boats including sculling, sweep,
canoes, surf boats, outriggers and dragon boats. After the race
there will be festivities on Keith St, St Lucia with a jumping
castle, a sausage sizzle and event patron Kieren Perkins.
- 11 July (Saturday) 2009 - St Williams Monthly Craft & Produce
Market - All profits go to St Vincent de Paul. Over 60
undercover stalls including the Polar Bear Market, art and craft,

Abbey Medieval Festival
- The largest authentic medieval event in Australia. It

series of radio plays presented by
The Centenary Theatre

was first broadcast in 1955, Gunsmoke - The Guitar (1953), Superman

Appeal - Volunteers will be doorknocking to raise
vital funds for the five Queenslanders diagnosed each day with leukaemias
and related blood disorders. Funds collected will go towards research
and supporting patients and their families.

Fun Run - The fun run or walk begins at the Belvedere

- An annual fundraiser to support Queenslanders living with Multiple
Sclerosis. The event Includes 50, 25 and 10 kilometre rides. After
the ride there will be live entertainment in Musgrave Park, South
Brisbane.

Precious Premmies
Lunch for Mater Mothers Hospital - Funds raised will
go towards the purchase of laryngeal masks amongst the most needed
items for the Mater Mother’s Hospital. Food and wine will be

Anniversary Steam Train - Celebrate the anniversary of
the first train journey taken in Queensland, which occurred on 31
July 1865. The trip will depart from The Workshops Rail Museum,
