Brisbane Performing Arts, Music and Drama

• 4MBS Brisbane's Classical Music FM Radio Station, since 1979, holds workshops, concerts etc
• Academy of Middle Eastern Dance, founded in 1989, boasts five highly skilled teachers and is home to Brisbane's only Professional Belly Dance Troupe "The Oasis Dancers".
• Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association of Queensland (ABODAQ) - Australia's premier in-service support organisation for music educators, instrumental music teachers and band & orchestra directors.
• Australian Girls Choir

• The Blenders - the Blenders chorus comprises 80 men singing unaccompanied four-part harmony in the barbershop style.
• The Brisbane Apollo Male Choir Inc (BAMCInc) sang its first public concert in Brisbane in 1885 after two years of discussion and preparation as the Brisbane Liedertafel. The present male choir attempts to maintain the standard set in previous years.

• Musica Sacra was established in mid-2006 by Brisbane Gregorian scholar Jack Ho after returning from studying sacred music & Gregorian Chant in Rome and at Solesmes Abbey in France. The repertoire of Musica Sacra is quite large. From Gregorian Chant, Palestrina, Bach and Mozart, through to more modern times of Britten, Durufle and Rutter. Musica Sacra also gives Gregorian Chant / Early Sacred Music Workshops (and other music workshops!). Though mostly for primary and secondary schools, we're happy to give a workshop to any groups of people by request.

• Queensland Colonial and Heritage Dancers "promote and preserve the dances done in the early days of Australian history and those of today at Bush Dances and Colonial Balls. These dances have evolved from Anglo-Celtic-European influences and new ones are being devised using traditional music, formations, steps and movements."

• Queensland Musical Theatre was founded by Brian and Denise Cahill in June 1984, with the aim of furthering the cultural opportunities for people of all ages in the northern suburbs of Brisbane. Its inaugural production - My Fair Lady - was staged in November of that year. Shortly afterwards it spread to all parts of Brisbane and South-East Queensland. Each year QMT stages two major musical productions in Brisbane, often travelling them to other centres; and incidental shows in a variety of venues in the SE corner. Not content with the works of Gilbert & Sullivan, QMT includes musical comedy, operetta and concert work in its varied repertoire and had great success with its production of Les Miserables. QMT also runs a successful Theatre Restaurant group with melodramas, murders and music.

• Queensland Youth Choir (QYC) provides children and young adults - from the preschool/preparatory year to age 25 - with unique, high quality choral training and performance opportunities. The program of weekly rehearsals and an annual camp incorporates aspects of singing, choreography and stagecraft. The various ensembles that constitute the Queensland Youth Choir perform a wide variety of repertoire including contemporary, classical, popular, folk, rock, gospel, jazz, art music, musical theatre and Australiana.

Theres no better way to get back to playing music than joining Weekend Warriors. As a Weekend Warrior youll be playing with other musicians of a similar level and playing the music you love, The Stones, Daddy Cool, Eagles - in fact all the great music of the 60s, 70s and 80s.
