The Compassionate Friends Queensland Inc. Brisbane Chapter.
The Compassionate Friends is a self-help support organization for
bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents. We offer friendship and
understanding to families who are grieving the death of a child of any age, from
any cause. All bereaved family members are welcome. The mission of The
Compassionate Friends is to assist families in the positive resolution of grief
following the death of a child and to provide information to help others be
supportive.
DVconnect Mensline is a free,
confidential telephone counselling referral and support service for men.
It is a Queensland wide service that operates between the hours of 10am
6pm, Mondays to Fridays. Mensline offers professional counselling
and information, and acts as a strategic point of referral for
Queensland men around issues of: domestic and family violence,
relationship problems and separation issues, mens health, child
support, family law issues, suicide and other significant issues for
men. Importantly Mensline offers specialist assistance for men who are
seeking strategies to address their own use of violence and other
destructive patterns in their personal lives and relationships, as well
as those who may be (or have been) victims of violence themselves.
Men's Rights Agency is a non-profit organisation providing advice about family separation, family law, shared parenting, child support, domestic violence, with access to legal, financial and counselling services.
National Child Protection
Clearinghouse - An information, advisory and research unit focused
on the prevention of child abuse and neglect and associated family violence.
Parenting and Family Support Centre
- Part of the University of Queensland. The centre regularly offer free
parenting courses and parenting advice to participants in research trials.
Reflux Infants Support Association Inc (RISA Inc)
RISA Inc is a non-profit community support group which aims to encourage and give confidence and moral support to families of infants with problems associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux.
The Spring Hill Branch of Relationships Australia (Qld) provides a variety of services including relationship counselling (to both individuals, couples or families), educational programs.
SIDS and Kids SIDS and Kids
Queensland has broadened its service provision to support people who have
been affected by the death of a child from any cause - not just Sudden
Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). This support incorporates perinatal
deaths (including still birth and neonatal deaths), drowning, car accidents,
sudden onset illnesses and any other cause of death. The organisation's name
was changed from SIDS Queensland to SIDS and Kids Queensland to reflect
these broader services.
Teddy Love Club - Support for parents and families who have sufferered the loss of their
baby due to miscarriage, genetic inducement of labour, stillbirth and
neonatal death. Counselling is available via phone, email, home or hospital
visits, support meetings, an Australia wide newspaper and online pregnancy
and infant loss support groups.

- Self-help support groups for parents troubled by their kids' (age 10+)
unacceptable behaviour.
