In the Beginning

The first Brisbane City Life home page went online in May 1995 as our way of keeping track of the way local people were using the web. It has grown in pages and content, but retains the same essential aims:

providing a free and easy way to find a variety of local online resources
providing a free way for local community groups to promote their own websites on the internet
providing inexpensive and cost-effect ways for small businesses to reach an online audience.

BCL is Independent

Brisbane City Life has never received funding from government or political organisations. We aim to provide links across the cultural and political spectrum of Brisbane.

Comprehensive

We create new BCL sections as new content becomes available and in response to readers' feedback. Check the main links on the left. In 2003, we added sites for each of the other Australia states under the BCL banner. All BCL sites continue to grow.

Local

Brisbane City Life is privately owned and operated by a family business - local owners, local staff, local information. Our contact details are at the bottom of every page.

How is Brisbane City Life funded?

Like your free local newspaper, BCL is funded by advertising - mainly through affiliate programs. We provide readers with the links to the best online shops and travel sites that we can find. We do not sell any products, tours or bookings but receive commission on some sales. If you make bookings or purchases, your contract is with the relevant supplier.
